My experience as Journalist!

Hi guys,
I’m Marta López and this week I’ve been the journalist of Keep Calm & Keep Organized, so I’m going to explain the activity that we have done this week.

This week KC&KO had been working on “Creative Commons Licences”.

We had to choose a topic about something that children of primary school study at their schools, and then we had to make a exposition of that topic, but this exposition wasn’t a simple exposition we had to make a lecture for children.
First of all our first idea was to choose the topic about the digestive system, but then we thought that history would be a great one, because this topic is something that since we were children we are working on it and while we are growing we are studying history with more or less content throughout our educational stage, because it’s an important subject. So finally we chose the history topic.

During Monday we process the information that Linda (our organization teacher) gave to us for do this work. On Wednesday we went to Luis Vives and we divided the information to do a good search for our topic. Then we decided to explain the five stages of the history: prehistory, old age, middle age, modern age and contemporary age.

We chose this topic because it was a great topic to explain it and we thought that this topic is something that students are going to study constantly.

For explain this topic better our first idea was to make a big chronological axis with cardboards and put them on the blackboard and then stick some photos next to the history stages, once the star has explained it we’d remove the photos and give them to the pupils and they would have to show what they have learned pasting the pictures again.
But after we had the idea that it would be great to make something different, so we decided to make some surprise boxes, and in the boxes we put some objects characteristics from the stages of the history, like the sword, the shield, lemons, oranges, the lightbulb, etc, so remembering those objects they would remember for something characteristic of that stage of the history, and it would be better for study.

We had some problems to find all the objects that we thought for the boxes in our homes, but finally we found all the objects, or bought them, like for example the sword and the shield.

While some of the members of our group and the star were doing the power point to complete the explanation of the topic by the star, others were doing the power point of the tips to make a great presentation and the others were searching for information about the creative commons.

Although some of the members of the group weren’t able to come to the meeting, we divided the work, and we did the rest of the work at home. The star searched information in a book from the fourth grade of primary school of science for her exposition, and then she translated the information to English. Other members made the boxes with the names of the different stages.

All the members of the group had worked hard to make a good work.

At the exposition’s day our star was a bit nervous, but she did it great. She had been studying for the exposition during the weekend, and all the group was very happy with her, we thought that she made a great job.
We had some mistakes, like we didn’t include the creative commons licences in the power point, but now we have solved them.

Finally I want to recommend you two blogs:

First blog:

http://busybeestakeiteasy.blogspot.com.es/2015/03/task-3-telling-stories-star-reforming.html

I choose this blog because I think they have a lot of clear information of what we have to do in this activity, they are also very creative in their work and in their blog, so I really like it and I recommend it.

Second blog:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/websites/4_11/

This is a very useful page for teachers because you can find some lessons or activities of all subjects you want, for your students. Also you can choose the age of your students so that helps you to find more things that you can do with your pupils. I really recommend it.
