Analyst post

Hello mates again, I'm Noelia Hernández and this time I´m the analyst of my group.
For first time, we hadn't to meet. We divided the activity in 2 groups each kimd of leadership. For instance, Holly and me were the participant leaders and we had to create a perfil in Fakebook. So, we decided that our representated was Holly Rose and we made the photo of Holly. I think that sincerely, this activity was something strange, due to it is very easy comparared with the other activity that we have done. Moreover, we helped our star(Clara) in order to facilitate and summed up the all the information.
The best moment, it could be the day that we heared that we had to do other acitivity, it was like "one more". We looked betweed us and it was a funny moment. Ans the bad moment, really we don't have many, but probably I could say when Holly and me started the activity, we read the activity in resources of SOyER and we don't undestand nothing, so we started to opresse.
Futhermore, we have learned to understand the different types of liderships:

The Authoritarian leaders are based on manipulation and overlap reward loyalty over merit, what’s more, is insensitive to race and gender, and displays little emotion or affection toward employees.

Transactional leaders are based in the dual organization where the bureaucratic side conflicts with the professional one. Leaders motivate workers by offering rewards for what the leaders need done.

Transformational leaders are focus in the diversity of thought, and inclusiveness for all races and gender, the dignity and respect for the rights.

Participative leaders control throught dignity and change the workplace.  Moreover is type of leadership, it respects diversity in team members. It is type of leader mix the respect the workers with a bit of authority in the workers. The key of this leader gives a command to control all members of the enterprise. I't is a bit more light that authority leaders.
Maybe, for the next week that we met that is nort possible, owing to the activity's subject have finished, but I could advise that we would continue in the same way.We work very hard every single week in order to do the work the best way that it was possible.
The content of this subject can be relationed with the subject of "Teorías e instituciones" due to during the all life we have lived with different types of government since more dictatorial to liberal like the authority leaderships.

Finally, I can write that all it is relationed with social connection. The society always tries to manipulate the reality in order to beneficiate for one cause. And we realised that for example some types of liderships are manipulated, but on the contrary there are other types like Transformational leaders and Transactional leaders are a good way in order to carry out an activity of lidership

The world always has moved for one caused, due to maybe we can not advance.

Leadership Task by a Journalist!

The dynamic of this task is involved in doing a debate within the class.
                                            ***

First of all, the teacher ask for the star of each group to pick a number from 1 to 9, so according to the number they say the will be asignate a role in the debate. The roles are four different leadership for each couple, because the stars will work in pairs and also it will be a referee in the discussion. The leaderships are authoritarian, participative, transformational and transactional.

                                            ***

How do we prepared the task? We divided the leadership within our team, and create a Fakebook in pairs, and them we send it to the star. So we put all the things together although we didnt meet this week. Now I´m gonna show you the pictures that were taken the Big day with Clara as a Star and Ana Isable as a “Star partner”.

There we are!

We have learnt about the different kinds of leadership, and especially , how to use a new tool called Fakebook!!
We have improved our coordination as a group and plannification this week, and we all have some good times as allways.

See you!!

Marina.

I'm the Facilitator an you know it!

Hello guys! I’m Marta López.

Once more and as last time I’m here being the facilitator of my group, it was a great week as a facilitator.

To start, the task for this week was to create a Fakebook profile pretending to be teachers of a primary school who want to be headteachers; but that’s not all, on the profile we owed defend our position as headteacher with a leadership (authoritarian leaders, participative leaders, transactional leaders and transformational leaders), so we had to create four different profiles on Fakebook one for each leadership.

So we divided the leadership so that in pairs create a different profile from the others. Thus the profiles would be created as quickly as possible. So the distribution was the following:

Authoritarian - Marta and Marina

Participative - Noelia and Holly

Transactional - Paula and Clara

Transformational - Ángela and Elena

The reason we divided the leadership was because we thought that it was not necessary meet up because we just have to find some information about the leadership and then create de profile in Fakebook so we didn’t meet up. In certain way that was good because sometimes we can’t meet together and we also have to split the group and the work and we can’t work together. But apart from that we meet up all weeks.

As we knew that our star Clara had to study our profiles, I made sure that they were all made on Friday, as my colleague Clara wanted them for study them better for the day of the exposition (Monday).

I’m very proud of my group, they have worked very well and they have worked very quickly for the best of our star. I thank each of them for work as well as we have done both in group and individually.

Hope you enjoyed reading our blog, but unfortunately we have reached the end of this course.

And just one comment to my colleagues, thanks for working so good and all moments we have had while we were creating all the tasks. Thank you very much.

See you soon!

Have no fear, the Translator is here!

Hello everybody, it´s Holly here once again with another post! This time I´m the translator for my group. You know the drill: I have to choose the five words from this weeks activity that stand out and that are most important.
This is probably going to be the my last ever post because we are at the end of our course, and all we have left really are our exams. I must say it has  been a pleasure posting on here weekly and talking to you all, and I really do hope you like our posts.
Fakebook

Fakebook is an online tool that is mostly used for class activities. It is a site where people can create their own profile of an imaginary, made-up, or real person, and write whatever they want about them. The information they give doesn’t necessarily have to be true, it can all be a lie (hence the name FAKEbook; because it is nine times out of ten all fake data); just to use in a task or activity for school or University.

Authoritarian leaders

Authoritarian leaders are those who like to control everything and make sure all of the employees are doing their jobs properly and not breaking the rules; showing no sympathy for these whatsoever. They feel better when it´s them that make all the important decisions and they prefer when their workers are loyal.

Participative leaders

Participative leaders are those who take pride in their work, believe that employees should be treated and spoken to correctly and with manners, and aspire to take part in activities that they think will be for the better of their surroundings; moreover, these type of leaders like to make a difference in any way they can, and strongly disbelieve in the expression “all for one, and one for all”; this means that, say they owned a large company, if the employees were to ever make a mistake, the leader wouldn’t blame it all on the workers, but he/she would take most of the fall because they are the leader and it´s his/her fault the employees made the mistake in the first place.

Transactional leaders

Transactional leaders are those who depend on two different things: one is the work to be done, and two is that the people doing the work get some little “reward” out of it. It´s like a balance; the leader has jobs to be done, so they employ workers to do it, but then they balance their work time with the things he will be giving back; such as a place to stay and full security for the employees, just for doing the work the leader wants done.

Transformational leaders

Transformational leaders are those who base their beliefs on many different concepts, such as morality, dignity, etc. But the most important is LOVE; these types of leaders think that love is the key to good leadership. Love is a very strong and powerful feeling that is capable of making anybody change their ways; after all, “the most powerful leaders in history are remembered not for their positions, wealth, and number of publications or position but for their unconditional love for others”.

Curator farmer by Paula

Hi everyone!

This course is finishing!!! This is my last post, and my role consits on being the curator farmer this week. So, we have been working on the different types of leadership, that is, participative, transactional, authoritarian and transformational. We have made four profiles on fakebook, one per each type of leadership. Furthermore, in this activity we had to imagine that we were teachers and we wanted to become the headteacher so, in the profiles of fakebook we had to explain each leadership and why each one was good to vote for and why the others were bad to vote for.

Moreover, my work has been colleting all the references of the websites that we have been working with and reflecting it in a mind map in the pearltrees of KC&CO. Also, in the pearltrees you can find the four fakebooks with the four different aspirants to leaders.

I have to say that it is the second time that I am the curator farmer and I like the role, because collecting all the references which we are being working with let me explore more and think how I could organize everything in the activity in order to make it clear in the mind map and so on.

So, here is the mind map finished http://www.pearltrees.com/keepcalmandkeeporganized/task-11-leadership/id14232201 , I hope you like it.

Finally, I just have to say that it has been a pleasure being part of this blog, it have taken us a lot of time, and we have learnt so much with it!!!!!

Kind regards,

Paula

Vote for transformational leader!!

Hello again! Yes, this is Clara and for the third time I have been the star!!

This week I didn’t know what I had to do with my role because what we were going to do on Friday morning was a surprise, so, I didn’t know very well what to prepare or study. I decided then to do a list of the advantages and disadvantages of each leadership (transactional, transformational, participative and authoritarian) as well as read the paper uploaded in the Aula Virtual.
On Friday morning we were told to mix with other group, in my case with Platypus, and to answer some questions that the moderator team, Power teachers, had done.

According to my experience like the star, I have to say that on Friday morning, I was a bit nervous because I didn’t know what to expect, because when you already knows what you are going to do, you are more relaxed, but when everything is a surprise, you are more worried. However, once I have known what we were going to do, I felt calmer as I haven´t defended the transformational leader alone inasmuch Ana Isabel of the Platypus was my partner and defended this type of leader with me. Furthermore, working with this group was very easy because, when we knew what we had to do, everyone rapidly implemented and started to help us.
When we have finished the questions and we had to go downwards and answered the questions I was again nervous, because being in front of an audience always commands. Nevertheless, as time went, I felt more secure and relaxed and I won more confidence.

In accordance with the best couple in the debate, my group and I think that the best ones have been Gracia and Noelia (they have defended transformational leadership) owing to the fact that they have shown a lot of skill and they have defended their position with many solid arguments.
Finally, I would like to say that , in our opinion, the best two profiles of transformationals leadears have been the Itschool one and ours.

And now here you have the nine links of transformationals leaders:

And here you have our profiles:

I hope you liked our debates and remember, vote for transformational leader!!

Facilitator this week!!

Dear bloggers,

First of all I would love to give you some information about the
strategy that me -as the facilitator- I have carry on on this task, therefore, how do I have divided the tasks, solved problems, organize the content and so on...?

I am gonna tell you now!!!

Firstly, We start reading the steps given by the teacher in class, to undertand the task apart from her explanation within the class of School organization.
Then the task was called Coexistence plan, which involve a Role playing following the instructions done in class, each group invented a story of a conflictive situation placed in a Primary School. Those situations were interchanged between groups with in the class with the aim of doing a TV documentary (max 6 min) where the problem could be well explained and the School leader team explain how the coexistence plan could help to them to improve or solve the problem. The documentaries were watched in the big group session on last Monday as the journalist explain in her post.

So, making our strategy clear, We search for information about the coexistence plan in order to know about it and get well informed picking several documents (that are shown in the post of the curator in apa style) therefore I divided the documentaries in equal parts for every one in the group and then we put in common our readings to get a whole idea of the coexistence plan meaning. Then we start drawing possible cases and designing our task all together in the meeting day, we looked at different solutions of the case, we all participate in the question the journal have done on the video, and in making the answer as well. Although the effort in memorizing an internalizing was done by the journal Angela and the head teacher Holly.

Once we had the information clear, the coexistence plan, the situation made by our mates, the questions, the answers, and so on we filmed the video in the garden of the Education Faculty . First of all, We divide some roles in the “journal staff” like the filmer, the director, the stylist, and the mixer who were filmed also in the video to get into a real documentary.
Then one of us was in charge of mixing all the shots taken by the filmer because we stay filming until we got the perfect Journal and head teacher’s performance. It was enjoyable because we laughed easily  Despite we repeated the performance until we got bored was worthy at the ed we got the result we want.

That is the strategy whole process, hope you have good comments about it, but we know there are several points of view when doing our work, I picked this one because is the most effective.
I must say that in case this strategy didn’t work I would have carried out another one.

Hope you enjoyed and see our video that it is in our youtube account called “Keep calm and keep organized”.
Enjoy it.

Translating in 3, 2, 1..

Hello everybody!

I am Paula and this week I am the translator, my work consists on select the five most important terms of the work made in this week and explaining them. The explanations should be based on scientific sources, so here they are the terms:

COEXISTENCE PLAN

It is a official paper prepared by each educational centre which cover methods in order to achieve a proper atmosphere in the centre, that is, a course of action to act to help students who make the school life difficult, such us students who misbehave, students with problems with teachers, students with familiar problems and so on.  In addition, the coexistence plan also have procedures which prevent bad situations in school, this procedures consist on making aware the students about basic values and proper behaviors.

TEAMWORK

Teamwork could be defined as a group of people communicating themselves and working in the same action, in educational meaning, for example, teamwork in a school is a group of teachers who interact one to another in order to do the same action that is teaching a determinate area to a specific students.
Teamwork includes also organizational planning, decision-making and development. Moreover it involves sharing materials, giving advice between them, agreeing in order to give the lessons…

TUTORIAL ACTION PLAN

It is the specific planning document of the actions developed by the tutors under the supervision of the head teacher. The tutorial action plan takes part on the educational project, and it has as a fundamental objective facilitate the total education of the pupils, promote a personalized education as far as possible and support the family cooperation.
Also, the tutorial action plan has an important point that is guiding the students in the professional and academic way, knowing the problems and difficulties of each students of the class that the tutor has in charge, control and try to resolve the misbehaviors of the students.

BULLYING

Bullying is reiterated verbal, physical, social or psychological performances that are harmful and include the belief of one person or group has more power over another person or group.
Bullying can involve humiliation, domination or intimidation based on sex, racial, religious, sexuality aspect of a person.
It is important focusing that bullying is considered when the conflict between two individuals happens because one of them feel superiority to another, when there is a fight between to equals, or the individuals has the same opportunities to win or lose the fight is not considered bullying, just a misbehavior of both.

COUNSELING DEPARTMENT

It is an educational assistance in order to help students and teachers; it offers help in the following sections:
-Academic orientation: Educational programs proposed in order to guide the students, information about the access to university or distance education.
-Professional orientation: When students have doubts related to the careers paths, or when students have doubts between continue studying or searching for a job the counseling department should offer help and orientation.
-Learning orientation: Techniques to study for the students and help with academic difficulties to improve in general the academic performance of scholars.
-Personal orientation: the counseling department offers help to the students in order to solve personal problems such as familiar conflicts, psychological problems and so on.

Everybody just Keep Calm, the Analyst is here!

Hey guys, what´s up? Its Holly here once again I´m here to talk about this weeks task.
First of all, I would like to say that it has been an extremely challenging week for all of us members in Keep Calm because we have our exams are coming very soon up and we have a lot to study; and on top of this, we have to do lots of works for all of our different subjects.

But its actually been a good challenge in the respect of we have put our minds to work and have completed the task very well, I would say.

Anyway, this weeks task was to make a video; kind of like a documentary about the activity we had done in class on Monday (each group had to come up with a problem in a school; being foreign student problem, deaf child problem, or a student that gets bullied for having two parents of the same sex, etc.). Well, once we had made one up, we had to exchange them with another group and then, with the problem we were given, read and apply the coexistence plan of a school to try and come up with ideas to solve the issue.

Our video was to try and help solve the issue group 'itschool' proposed to us, about a case of a foreign and deaf student at a school that weren't getting enough help at this school, and specifically, from one teacher. So, the video was about how we would solve such a case.

We had a lot of fun making and shooting the video, because we were all there talking, coming up with ideas, and laughing about different scenarios.

I would say the funniest moment was when you try and film a serious part and try and keep a straight face in the process, but it just doesn't happen; you just end up laughing. Its funny because I was the one that, once I started laughing, I just couldn't stop; and at some points it became very annoying; I wanted to be serious and concentrate but I kept having a laughing fit and that wouldn't let me ha-ha.

Another nice thing to remember is the fact that we never had any fights or any horrible discussions about anything. In other words, there were no bad moments. There was always a nice vibe.

We learn new things everyday, and we also learn to work better as a team. Yeah, we might have our ups and downs sometimes; but we always get back on track and make up after a very short space of time.

Furthermore, we have also learnt many thing during this activity that may then help us in the future, when we are teachers and we have our own class full of students. We know a lot of new tools and methods in order to get by famously teaching our (future) class.

Thanks for reading! This has been Holly Terry, the analyst of Keep Calm and Keep Organized.

JOURNAL KCKO : NOELIA´S JOURNALIST

Hello bloggers, how earth I have been several weeks without writeing anything on the Blogger, I can’t believe it.

So, this week we have  met two times in order to finalize the work for this week.

The first time that we met was on Tuesday, due to we had problems to met other day. Moreover, we should to start the work early to try to end the faster as possible. So, that day, we did a planning of our work for been able start with the video. Admitting that, we spent a lot of time collecting the information about the question and answers to the journalist and the interviewee. Thus, our star Ángela was the journalist and Holly Rose was wanted to be the interviewee. In spite of Holly was at lot of time laughing when Elena the reporter was very patient with all of us.

Thursday 7 May

We recorded one part of the interview between Ángela and Holly, we shared a lot of laugh during all time. Moreover, Holly was the one of the more nervous, due to she want to do the best that she want. In spite of her nervous, she achieved did brilliant as always.

Friday 8 May
The next day, we ended the video, once the video is done; Marta was in charge of creating the movie maker. Really, it is easy to work with all members of groups, we work in a dynamic way and we are extremely constant.

We met this day to finalise the work, we only had to do some shorts for the video and fortunately we achieved to end.

Monday 11 May
We saw other videos that our collegues, some of them were really brilliant, it noticed that all our companies have been working hard. But,  moment more crazy was when we saw the Bussy bees ´s video called “Yoli´s Diary” was very funny the introduction, we always wait something fascinated about them.

BLOGS
Finally, I could recommend you two blogs one inside the class and the other outside the class relationed with the subject.

Inside the class, I would like recommending you, due to good organization and constant working day by day. I think that they have done a brilliant video and their blog is good.

Outside the class, I recommend you this blog, because of showing us the reality of textbooks at school and how they affect in children academic development.

Last time being the curator!!

Hi bloggers! This is Clara once again and this week my role has been being the curator-farmer (for the second time)! As you already know, my target is to gather all the information that we have used this week!

The activity of this week has been about searching for a coexistence plan in order to apply it to a specific problem in a school. Our problem deals with a group of pupils (that are in the 5º and the 6º school year together in the same class) who doesn’t have the basic competences. Furthermore, we have to integrate a deaf and a foreign children in the class.

When I was the curator-farmer for the first time I was totally lost. I didn’t know how to manage this role as I see it very difficult and, moreover, the fact of doing a conceptual map with a program seemed difficult, so, as I saw it, this role was a challenge (what is more, I have to add the fact that it was our first week with the roles). Nevertheless, once you get into it, you start to realize that it is easier than you thought. But, this time, it has been different. I have been a little more relaxed from the beginning inasmuch I feel more comfortable with the role since I have already performed it.

So, if you go here, http://www.pearltrees.com/keepcalmandkeeporganized/task-10-coexistence-plan/id14198199 , you can find our pearltree with all the information we have used.

THE STAR 'ACTING' AS A JOURNALIST?

Hello, I’m Ángela, the star of this week and yes, although I have been the star, I had to act as a journalist. You may be wondering why, but don’t worry, I will explain it to you.

We were told to solve a problem in a school and we had to create a video presenting the measures that we would take to solve it. The teacher told us that every star of each group had to be the journalist of the video and that’s the reason why I had to act like that.

On the one hand, I do not really like doing videos in which I have to be one of the main characters because I feel uncomfortable being in front of a camera and it is even worse if I have to speak in English. Anyway, I had to do this because it was part of my role, so I could not refuse to it, but I have to say that I prefer being in charge of the camera or things like that, because acting is not one of my strong points.

On the other hand, doing videos is funny because it is like doing a film, you have to write a script, then, become familiar with it and finally filming it, although obviously, we are not as professional as lots of famous directors and actors, but at that time we feel kind of ‘important’. The best part is when filming, because most of the time we forget what we have to say or we just start laughing, which makes it be even funnier to film. From my point of view, filming has been quite useful because I have faced my fear of being in front of the cameras and I have to say that it has also been thanks to my group, which has been supporting me when I thought I was not doing it very well.

From a general view, this activity has been useful because we have learnt how to solve school problems, which could be real in our future as teachers and we have also learnt how to film short videos, as well as to act (in my case not that much).

In addition, I have to say that the day when we had to show the video to our classmates and our teacher, I got a bit nervous because I did not know if the stars were going to be asked to do something in front of the whole class, due to the fact that most of the times it is the star the one that has to present the work to the rest of the class, however I did not have to, and to be honest, I am glad because I would have got very nervous.

Due to the fact that it is going to be the last time for me being the star, since we are almost finished with this subject, I must remark that it has been a pleasure getting to know how to use so many new things that I had never seen before and learning so many things which I thought I would have never going to learn. It has been a long and a hard trip, but in spite of all the problems that we have had, I have learnt a lot from it. Being the star of my group has taught me to keep up with all the pressure that it implies, as well as to learn to talk in public and to improvise, because we had to be prepared to unexpected things all the time. It has also been a pleasure getting to know better my group and learning from them.

Thank you so much for reading us and hope to see you again next week!
