Keep calm, the journalist is here!

Hello everyone! I’m Elena Sánchez and this week I’m the journalist of Keep Calm and Keep Organized. My role consists of transmitting you how has been our work this week, so let’s do it!

-Tuesday 3rd

First we decided to use infographic instead of a comic because it was a new program for us and we wanted to know how to use it and discover new resources for our future as teachers.

So, as we hadn’t worked with infographic before, it was a hard challenge for us. We looked for a program to make it and we found piktochart, we liked it so we created an account to use it correctly.

We thought that would be a great idea to use Darth Vader’s character to present our work because of the sentence “The dark side of textbooks”. And we thought it would be funny and it would catch the attention of the rest of students too.

So that day we started making the infographic, searching pictures with creative commons and reading the articles of the “aula virtual” that were about the disadvantages of textbooks.

-Wednesday 4th

We continued reading the rest of the articles about textbooks and looking for more information on the internet. Then we wrote on the blackboard the main ideas we wanted to include in the infographic and we started designing how it would be.

We thought it would be really funny if Holly, our star this week, represented  Darth Vader’s character with a mask, with some of his famous sentences and of course with the characteristic music of the film “Star wars”.

-Friday 6th

Some of us met and added all the ideas in the infographic and decorated it. We worked hard and it took us several hours because as I had said before, it was a new program for us and we didn’t know how to use it, so while we were working with it, we were learning how it works.

I would like to add that it has been a really good discovery because it is a great way to make beautiful and original works and when you learn how to use it, it is very easy.

On Friday, Holly bought the mask, downloaded the music and searched some sentences of the film.

Finally that day we sent the infographic to the rest of the group and we asked them if it was correctly done.

-Saturday 7th

We changed some elements of the infographic and added others. In the end, we corrected some mistakes in the grammar. And incredibly our infographic was finished!

-Sunday 8th

We went to a specialized copy shop and we printed it in A2 size. (Yes, unbelievably that copy shop open on Sundays).

-Monday 9th

At last Monday arrived!

We pasted the infographic on the wall and Holly stayed next to it, answering the classmates’ questions, while the rest of the group were looking at the other works and writing some notes about them.

I hope you enjoyed this experience as much as we did guys!

BLOGS:

This blog is about the disadvantages of textbooks, I want to recommend it to you because it is very critical and clear, the author uses a direct language so you can understand him easily.

It is a good blog because shows us the reality of textbooks at school and how they affect in children academic development.

I want to recommend you too this week the blog of my classmates Powerteachers. I really like how it is decorated. It’s very original, you can find there a picture explaining teacher’s abilities and interesting quotes about teachers of famous people.  It has information about the components of the group too and the first that you see when you open it, it’s an introduction so from my point of view it is a really complete blog that shows us how hard they work.

Good bye! It was a pleasure to show you a little more about Keep calm and keep organized’s work one more time! (:
