Hello
everyone! I’m Elena Sánchez and I’m the facilitator of Keep Calm and Keep
Organized this week. My role consists in helping the group so it works in an
adequate way and we do our job successfully. Then I have had to divide the tasks, solve problems, organize the content...
Firstly, we
had to decide the topic and organize the ideas. At the beginning the topic we
chose was the digestive system, but later we decided to talk about history
because it is a subject which is in most of the courses we study. We start studying
it in primary school, so what we learn about it at this age is the base of our
future history knowledge. Because of this, we thought that it would be a good
idea that our exposition was about it and our purpose was to try pupils learn
the main history concepts in an easy way so they will remember it in their next
studies.
To develop
this idea, we decided to make five boxes, each one about one period of the
history: Prehistory, old age, middle age, modern age and contemporary age. We
thought pupils would understand better our explanation if we showed them
objects of each age.
This week
we also have had to do a slide share about creative commons and 20 tips about
how to do a good power point presentation, so the work has been harder than
other weeks, but we have organized properly and we have got it ready on time.
I have divided the work between the members of my group so each one of us have
had a task and we have worked fast and really involved in our respective tasks.
Paula, our
star this week, looked for information in a book from the fourth grade of
primary school of science, translated it to English and elaborated what she was
going to speak about in her exposition on Monday.
Ángela and
Clara searched photos on internet related with the different ages of the history
and elaborated a power point presentation with a chronological axis to support
Paula’s explanation.
Marina and
Marta’s charge was to create and decorate the boxes where the different objects
were inside.
Noelia
looked for information about creative commons and made the first ten slides of
the presentation.
And finally
Holly and I did the last twenty slides of the power point with the twenty tips
about how to do a good presentation.
During the
time we were working in this task, we had some problems but fortunately we
could deal with them.
When we
were talking about meeting one day to make the work, we found some difficulties
because we all have different timetables and extracurricular activities and we
couldn’t meet all together the same day. Then I proposed to divide the work so
people who couldn’t meet had the option of doing it at home, for example Marina
and Marta were in Cartagena so they met there together to do their part.
Another
problem we found was that we haven’t worked before with creative commons, so we
had to search information about it and looked for web pages where we could find
images or videos that we could use and because of that we worked slower.
Apart from dividing
tasks, organizing ideas and trying to solve problems, as facilitator I have
been controlling everyone were working correctly this week and I have revised
and corrected some mistakes of every post of my partners before they publish
them.
In conclusion,
I previously thought that the role of facilitator was going to be boring but I
have really enjoyed this role because I have felt really satisfied when I have
seen that work was going adequately and all the members of my group were
working hard and doing a great job.
I would want
to add that we have been reading all the comments of our previous posts with
the mistakes we were making in them and we have tried to solve them. I hope
this week we had improved our performance and this could be reflected in our
blog.
Thank you
so much for reading me and I really hope you like our posts this week.
