THE STAR 'ACTING' AS A JOURNALIST?

Hello, I’m Ángela, the star of this week and yes, although I have been the star, I had to act as a journalist. You may be wondering why, but don’t worry, I will explain it to you.

We were told to solve a problem in a school and we had to create a video presenting the measures that we would take to solve it. The teacher told us that every star of each group had to be the journalist of the video and that’s the reason why I had to act like that.

On the one hand, I do not really like doing videos in which I have to be one of the main characters because I feel uncomfortable being in front of a camera and it is even worse if I have to speak in English. Anyway, I had to do this because it was part of my role, so I could not refuse to it, but I have to say that I prefer being in charge of the camera or things like that, because acting is not one of my strong points.

On the other hand, doing videos is funny because it is like doing a film, you have to write a script, then, become familiar with it and finally filming it, although obviously, we are not as professional as lots of famous directors and actors, but at that time we feel kind of ‘important’. The best part is when filming, because most of the time we forget what we have to say or we just start laughing, which makes it be even funnier to film. From my point of view, filming has been quite useful because I have faced my fear of being in front of the cameras and I have to say that it has also been thanks to my group, which has been supporting me when I thought I was not doing it very well.

From a general view, this activity has been useful because we have learnt how to solve school problems, which could be real in our future as teachers and we have also learnt how to film short videos, as well as to act (in my case not that much).

In addition, I have to say that the day when we had to show the video to our classmates and our teacher, I got a bit nervous because I did not know if the stars were going to be asked to do something in front of the whole class, due to the fact that most of the times it is the star the one that has to present the work to the rest of the class, however I did not have to, and to be honest, I am glad because I would have got very nervous.

Due to the fact that it is going to be the last time for me being the star, since we are almost finished with this subject, I must remark that it has been a pleasure getting to know how to use so many new things that I had never seen before and learning so many things which I thought I would have never going to learn. It has been a long and a hard trip, but in spite of all the problems that we have had, I have learnt a lot from it. Being the star of my group has taught me to keep up with all the pressure that it implies, as well as to learn to talk in public and to improvise, because we had to be prepared to unexpected things all the time. It has also been a pleasure getting to know better my group and learning from them.

Thank you so much for reading us and hope to see you again next week!
